Conveyor System Price in UAE: Key Cost Factors Explained

Key Takeaways

  • Conveyor price is driven by system design, not a fixed rate per metre.
  • Length, width, load and conveyor type set the mechanical cost.
  • Controls, WMS integration and safety features can be a large share of the total.
  • Installation, freight, duties and clearance must be included in the landed cost.
  • Compare quotes on identical scope, and plan for spares and maintenance.

"What does a conveyor cost?" is one of the first questions UAE buyers ask, and one of the hardest to answer in a sentence. Two systems of the same length can differ greatly in price because one carries light totes on gravity rollers while the other moves heavy pallets with powered transfers and full WMS integration.

Rather than quote figures that would not fit your project, this article explains the factors that determine conveyor system price in UAE projects. Understanding them will help you write a better specification, compare quotes fairly and plan a realistic budget.

Why There Is No Standard Price

A conveyor system is assembled from many components, each chosen to suit the product, throughput and building. Suppliers price the design you ask for, so the clearer your requirement, the more accurate and comparable the quotes will be. Vague requests tend to produce quotes that look cheap but exclude important items, or that include generous margins to cover unknowns.

Mechanical Cost Factors

Length and Layout

Total length is the most obvious factor, but layout matters just as much. Curves, merges, inclines, spirals and transfers cost more than straight sections. A compact layout with fewer direction changes is usually more economical than a long, complex one.

Width

Wider conveyors need longer rollers or belts and heavier frames. Width is set by the largest product you need to carry, plus clearance. Designing for an occasional oversized item can increase the cost of the entire line, so consider handling outliers separately.

Load and Duty

A line carrying light cartons uses lighter rollers, frames and drives than one carrying pallets. Heavier loads need heavier rollers, closer roller pitch, stronger frames and larger motors. Continuous 24/7 duty, common in UAE logistics, may also call for higher-rated components.

Conveyor Type

Different technologies have different cost profiles. The table below gives a general comparison.

Conveyor type Relative cost level Typical use
Gravity roller Lowest Short manual push or slight decline runs
Flexible roller conveyor Low to moderate Temporary or movable loading lines
Belt conveyor Moderate Small items, polybags, inclines
24V MDR roller conveyor Moderate to higher Accumulation, picking and packing lines
Pallet conveyor Higher Heavy unit loads
Spirals, lifters, sorters Highest per unit Level changes and high-speed routing

Relative levels are indicative only. Actual cost depends on specification. You can learn more about each type on our pages for roller conveyor systems, flexible roller conveyors and pallet conveyor systems.

Materials and Finish

Mild steel with powder coating is common in dry warehouses. Galvanised or stainless steel costs more but may be needed for coastal humidity near Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port or Hamriyah, cold stores or food areas. Choose the finish that suits the environment rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.

Controls and Integration

Controls are often underestimated in early budgets. Key items include:

  • Control panels, PLCs, drives and power supplies.
  • Sensors, photo-eyes and barcode scanners.
  • Emergency stops, pull cords, guarding and safety relays.
  • Software for zone logic, sortation and accumulation.
  • Interfaces to WMS, ERP, sorters, robots or AMRs.
  • HMI screens and remote monitoring.

A simple transport line may need only basic start and stop controls. A sortation system with scanning and WMS integration needs significant engineering and testing. Make sure each quote states clearly what controls scope is included.

Installation and Commissioning

Installation cost depends on site access, working hours, whether the building is live and how much supervision is needed. Retrofitting a running warehouse in JAFZA or KEZAD, with work limited to night shifts or weekends, takes longer than installing in an empty new building. Commissioning, site acceptance testing and operator training should also be priced.

Other site-related costs can include mezzanine steelwork, electrical supply to panels, compressed air for pneumatic devices, and permits from the free zone or building authority.

Freight, Duties and Landed Cost

If equipment is manufactured outside the UAE, the price you pay is the landed cost, not the factory price. Account for:

  • Export packing and crating.
  • Inland transport to the port of loading.
  • Sea or air freight and marine insurance.
  • Customs duty and clearance charges in the UAE. Free zone sites may be treated differently from mainland sites, and the India-UAE CEPA may reduce duty on eligible goods. Confirm the current position with your customs broker.
  • Port handling and transport from Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to site.
  • VAT where applicable.

Incoterms define who pays for each step. An EXW price and a DAP or DDP price are not comparable without adjustment. For a step-by-step view of the process, read our guide to importing conveyor systems from India to UAE.

Lifetime Cost, Not Just Purchase Price

The lowest purchase price is not always the lowest cost over the life of the system. Consider:

  • Energy: zone-controlled 24V MDR conveyors only run when loaded, which can reduce consumption compared with continuously running lines.
  • Maintenance: standardised components and easy access reduce repair time.
  • Spares: a recommended spares kit avoids long stoppages while parts are shipped.
  • Flexibility: a modular conveyor system can be extended or relocated rather than replaced.
  • Downtime: in a 24/7 operation, an unreliable conveyor can cost more in lost throughput than it saved at purchase.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

To help suppliers price your project accurately and consistently, provide:

  • A CAD layout or a dimensioned sketch of the area.
  • Product dimensions, weights and packaging types, including the largest and smallest items.
  • Average and peak throughput, and operating hours.
  • Required functions such as accumulation, merging, sorting, weighing or labelling.
  • Integration requirements with existing systems.
  • Site location, for example Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or a specific free zone, and the delivery terms you prefer.

Ask every supplier to price the same scope and to list exclusions clearly. Our article on how to choose the right conveyor systems manufacturer in UAE covers what else to compare beyond price.

Conveline Systems prepares detailed quotations for UAE projects based on your layout and requirements. Visit our conveyor systems manufacturer in UAE page, submit your details through the proposal form or the UAE enquiry section, call or WhatsApp +91 90819 15912, or email sales@conveline.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no single price because every system is different. Cost depends on length, width, load, conveyor type, controls, integration, installation, freight and duties. The most reliable way to get a figure is to share your layout and product data and request a detailed quotation.

Quotes often differ in scope. One may include controls, installation, freight and commissioning while another covers only the mechanical equipment. Compare quotes line by line against the same specification before comparing totals.

Many UAE buyers find Indian-manufactured conveyors competitive, but the total landed cost must include sea freight, insurance, customs duty, clearance, local transport and installation. The India-UAE CEPA may reduce duties on eligible goods, so confirm the current tariff with a customs broker.

Provide a layout drawing, product dimensions and weights, throughput at average and peak, operating hours, the conveyor functions you need, integration requirements and your site location in the UAE.
